APPLY NOW - Deadline Midnight July 12th 2024

BRiGHTBLACK are proud to announce a ten day hybrid residency programme taking place Autumn 2024 in partnership with Cambridge University's Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence and Liverpool John Moores University.

Five UK based artists will join BRiGHTBLACK for 3 days at Cambridge University, 3 days at Liverpool John Moores and 4 days online to explore how ethical use of artificial intelligence in their practice might help them meet three critical challenges facing artists at the current time;

1. to make work which meets the expectations of contemporary audiences

2. to reach new audiences

3. to reach net zero

BRiGHTBLACK's Myra Appannah and Simon Wilkinson in collaboration with academics from the partner universities will facilitate practical, theoretical and demo sessions.

No previous experience of artificial intelligence is required in order to apply.

The residency will culminate with each artist producing an AI roadmap for their practice and with BRiGHTBLACK publishing a short film and written article online.

All selected artists will receive per-diems for the on site residency days and all travel and accomodation will be covered.

The residency will begin in August (dates TBC) and end in October with 10 days in total being spent across the duration.
